Jamie Giesen | Washington County
Jamie Giesen is a program supervisor with the Washington County Department of Public Health and Environment. She holds an M.S. from James Cook University in Natural Resource Management and a B.S. from Colorado State University in both Zoology and Biology. Her career began as a zookeeper, but her curiosity about the impact of human behavior on natural resources led her to pivot towards a career in solid waste. Jamie has been with Washington County since 2013, initially serving as the internal recycling program lead. In 2018, she assumed her current role, supervising the Community Environmental Resource Team—the driving force behind the county’s Solid Waste Management Plan. As a proud resident of Washington County, Jamie enjoys exploring the local natural beauty alongside her husband and three boys (which can sometimes feel like she’s still at a zoo!).
